In the next installment of “Accidentally Findoug out a Seemingly Fictional Character was Real by Visiting Their Dead Body,” we have Uncle Sam! Turns out Hudson Valley’s own Samuel Wilson, a Continental Army Veteran (where his job at age 14 was to tend to and kill cows) and resultingly a meatpacker who supplied all the meat for the War of 1812, was the inspiration for the character. He is interred and lovingly visited in Oakwood Cemetery, a goregous example of the Rural Cemetery Movement in Troy, NY. He has own giant flagpole. Thank you and you’re welcome.
