Stop 3 of 4 was Carolina Memorial Sanctuary near Asheville, NC. Karly was super kind to give us an overview of the history and current operations, and we got to meet a gregarious group of volunteers who were dedicated to bringing life and beauty to this place! I’m impressed with their ability to go-with-the-flow as they encountered challenges, e.g., unearthing a very wet, marshy area, which they’ve turned into a wetland habitat. Unfortunately that means that their bury-able land was reduced, and they are actively in the market to purchase more land. All the good wishes to them in their search!
